Pharmacology CE

none — Massachusetts sets no fixed pharmacology-specific contact-hour count for APRN renewal. Controlled-substance CE

APRNs holding a Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR) must, at initial application and each APRN authorization renewal, 'comply with all state and federal requirements for continuing education' (244 CMR 4.07(5)). Massachusetts prescriber law/Board policy requires training in pain management, identification of patients at high risk for substance use disorder, and patient counseling on medication risks — but no fixed hour count is specified in the nursing regulations. Federal one-time 8-hour DEA MATE Act training applies to DEA registrants.
